A British couple who spent nearly $ 100,000 to convert a huge yellow American school bus into a luxury home is now offering the unique home for sale through a raffle.
Lucy Stevens and Glen Carloss bonded over their love of American cars on their first date, and even talked about a shared dream of turning a great bus.
Just a few months later, they sent a 36ft x 8ft yellow bus from New York to Southampton in southern England.
It still contained children’s toys, discarded school sweaters, and sickness notes, and they spent almost a year turning it into a luxury mobile home.
The seats came out and the heating, a ‘movie theater’, a bathroom, a fireplace and a king size bed came in, but more importantly, the iconic yellow exterior remains intact.
Videos on Instagram show all its process and the work that was carried out in the transformation.
Lucy said: “We both share the same dream of having a large vehicle to take a road trip for a year or more.
“We worked really hard on it, it’s been blood, sweat and tears just because we’ve never had anything like this before … and I’m very proud of how we achieved the look we wanted to achieve.”
Lucy, who is a babysitter, went on her first date to a London rooftop bar with tattoo artist Glen in July 2019.
When did your bus arrive from America? “It was huge,” says Lucy. “It’s so much more daunting in real life, but I absolutely loved it, I couldn’t believe I owned it.”

The couple went to work with a complete renovation, ripping out the seats and floor before installing the electricity, plumbing and heating, and dividing the bathroom and bedroom.
Then they added things like a sofa bed, a dining area, a compostable toilet, an indoor shower, a refrigerator, a ceramic hob, an oven, a desk, a shower, and even a space in the garage for outdoor gear.
Bus enthusiasts have almost completed another second school bus renovation, which they plan to undertake on a road trip across the United States and Canada before leasing it as Airbnb.
As for that first bus that you can see in the photos above? Lucy and Glenn have decided to sell their first American bus in a raffle, with tickets costing £ 20 ($ 28).
They’re offering the motorhome, along with £ 1,000 ($ 1,390) for the Category C license required to drive it, as well as six months of free storage. If you want to participate in the raffle for the big school bus, just head here.
SHARE this sweet setup with your friends who would love to have it …
