Cargo Cosmetics Swimmables Eye Liners Are Perfect for Lining My Lids | Review

A cat eye was the first makeup thing I mastered, so eyeliner has a sweet space in my heart. Pencils. Liquid. Felt Pens. Gel. I’ve tried quite a few formulas in my life, and I honestly have a use for all of them. So, I was excited to play around with the Cargo Cosmetics Swimmable Eye Pencils — which are available in nine shades.

The brand describes these pencils as waterproof and smudge-proof when set, but if you work fast enough, you can blend them out for the drama. As a big fan of drama, I decided to use these pencil eyeliners a little bit differently than normal to test the formula.

Before any eye makeup, I always apply a concealer a few shades lighter than my complexion to my lids and set with powder to create an even base to work on. After the lids were set, I started applying the shade Black Sea in the rough shape of a cat eye — perfection was thankfully not the goal here. The jet black pencil glided on the skin like butter, which I love, because sometimes eye pencils can be a little bit dry and drag on the skin. Ouch!

Then, using Sigma’s E54 Medium Sweeper brush, I blended out the black hue while still maintaining that winged shape. The jet black color became a thick, smokey-looking cat eye. Because I wanted to keep this look simple, I added the metallic eggplant hue Pfeiffer Beach to my lower lash line to bring in a bit of color. This deep raisin hue looks almost black on my eyes, so the color difference was minimal for me. To finish my eyes, I popped a shimmery purple eye shadow in my inner corners and added mascara to elongate my lashes.

With a little burgundy lipstick and blush, my vampy look was complete. These pencils definitely passed the blending test. It was so easy to diffuse out the jet black pigment into a smoked out wing. I was pleasantly surprised with the results — I’m so used to using eyeliner pencils mainly on my lower lash line, so I love the versatility I get from this creamy formula. I just might have to test out every shade now.
