On March 11, Emily Ratajkowski announced via Instagram that she had given birth to her baby: Sylvester Apollo Bear. “Sylvester Apollo Bear has joined us earth side,” she wrote. “Sly arrived 3/8/21 on the most surreal, beautiful, and love-filled morning of my life.” In the sun-drenched photo, Ratajkowski is seen breastfeeding her newborn.
Throughout her pregnancy, Ratajkowski has chronicled her growing bump, whether that was posing nude for a mirror selfie with the caption: “20 weeks getting to know my new body,” or simply “pregnant on a boat,” where she was pictured in a bathing suit and, well, on a boat. Ratajkowski first announced her pregnancy to Vogue back in October with an intimate digital cover shot by photographer Cass Bird. The model-actress-businesswoman penned an essay about her view on motherhood and considered her opposition to the concept of a “gender reveal.” She wrote, “I like the idea of forcing as few gender stereotypes on my child as possible.”
“I’m completely and undeniably helpless when it comes to almost everything surrounding my pregnancy: how my body will change, who my child will be,” she concluded. “But I’m surprisingly unbothered. Instead of feeling afraid, I feel a new sense of peace. I’m already learning from this person inside my body. I’m full of wonder.”
