Allure Readers’ Choice Awards 2021: Drugstore Skin Care & Beauty Winners

If our Readers’ Choice Awards have proven anything over the years, it’s that Allure readers have impeccable taste in beauty and personal-care products. More often than not, a slew of especially affordable products make the cut, because our readers know a low price doesn’t automatically mean underwhelming results. In fact, some of the most impressive outcomes were achieved with makeup, skin care, and hair care purchased from drugstores.

The 19 products below are the cream of the drugstore crop from the 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards. With the last year being as trying as it was, we leaned heavily on everyday staples to get us through some of the most unpredictable of days. While impulse buys on pricier products made us feel the sense of normalcy we craved at times, for many of us, it was the drugstore finds that brought us the greatest comfort.

It came as no surprise that so many Allure readers shared the same sentiment. There’s a certain peace of mind that comes with ordering a batch of your favorite face washes or stocking up on a deliciously scented body soap. While many of this year’s winners took home their fifth and sixth Readers’ Choice Award (we’re looking at you, Dove and Aveeno) — there are a few new heroes in the mix, like Purell’s Advanced Hand Sanitizing Gel, without which we honestly don’t know how we would’ve made it through the last year.

The drugstore remains your go-to source for personal-care products like hand sanitizer and toothpaste, with brands like Purell and Colgate coming out on top — and you’ll find new winners in makeup and skin care on this year’s list, including Burt’s Bees Glossy Lipstick and Ogx. And don’t sleep on past winners who keep on impressing Allure readers, like Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen SPF 55.

Either way, you know these products have been vetted by your fellow Allure readers, the most selective and beauty-literate shoppers we know.
