After a difficult few months, a preschool teacher had a stroke of good luck when he decided to buy two lottery tickets instead of one.
Joe Camp was fired in September after 20 years teaching preschool in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“A month after that, my dad passed away,” Camp said. “And it put me in a dark place.”
But he had many friends and family who told him to “stay there, believe in me.”
After finding a job in a car dealership’s sales center, Camp found “gold.”
In December, he was buying his Gold Rush weekly scratch-off ticket, and this time he bought two.
He didn’t win the first, so he eliminated the second and found that he had won $ 250,000.
“I fell to my knees at the gas station.”
His plans include a new home for himself and his daughter, and saving for her education.
“I want to have a house because I want to prepare it for my family, my grandchildren,” he said. “I want to have something for us.
“I never had anything, nobody transmitted anything, and that’s what I want to do.”
